Paper in Motion
Artwork by Judith Wombwell

ABOUT
Judith Wombwell begins her creative process by making archival digital pigment prints of her original photographic abstractions of subjects, elements and forms found in nature on unryu rice paper
Then, by hand, she shapes her prints by making hundreds of gestures as she creases and folds her image into juxtaposed patterns, shapes and a labyrinth of layered three dimensional geometric surfaces, edges, textures and colors. These patterns are traditional folds, most tessellations, and much of her work is influenced by Tomoko Fuse and Ilan Garibi.
Her pieces are available in four distinctive forms:
-
Framed Collage Works
-
Paper Quilts
-
3D Origami Sculptures.
-
Hold To Light Foldings
Judith accepts commissions and will work in each of these forms. Each commission will begin with determining the content that is meaningful, be it from a meaningful place, garden, natural setting, event or artifact. Commisions will begin with a conversation, a digital mock up, and then the folding will begin!
